TheSage Linux beta port program

Thank you for participating in TheSage Linux beta port program.

Please read all instructions before download/installing/running anything.

The codename of the port is Burbridge and it ships with Edition IX of the dictionary.

Download the zipped application from:

Upzip the file anywhere, open a terminal in whatever folder that is, and type:

./Burbridge.exe

Burbridge is a proof-of-concept at this point and only implements 6 tools: the dictionary, a wildcard search (with optional regex), an anagram search, a phonetic wildcard search (with optional regex), and a rhyme assistant. The 6th tool runs automatically when a word is not found in the dictionary and is composed of three algorithms designed to provide alternative spellings and other suggestions.

Tools come with a set of options. Note that modifications to these options come into effect in the next search and do not affect existing results.

Each tool maintains its own history, available via a dropdown. To delete an entry in the dropdown, select it so it appears in the textfield and press option+delete.

A double-click on a word in any of the result tabs automatically brings up the dictionary tool and carries out a lookup.

If a search with identical parameters exists, its tab will be displayed.

Please note that the phonetic wildcard search is rather more complex to use than other tools as phonetic symbols (or their quasi-SAMPA counterparts) are required to construct phonetic patterns. To assist and simplify the process, a dropdown next to the 'Symbols' button provides a list of letter-symbol correspondences. Type the appropriate letter or click on the 'Symbols' button to insert the selected symbol.

The purpose of the beta program is to test performance and stability. So please see if you can break it and let us know how you did it.
