We are always keen to develop software that we believe will provide hard-to-find support for material design and evaluation in the context of language learning, whether in education or psycholinguistic experimentation.

TheSage's English Dictionary and Thesaurus

Our interest in language coupled with the lack of high caliber, free language reference software has motivated us to develop a dictionary and thesaurus of the English language. The result is TheSage, a professional package that has met with instant success. Tens of thousands of users from all over the world attest to its quality and versatility.

TheSage makes it possible to look up words directly from almost any program (IE, Word, Firefox, Outlook, Thunderbird,... ) and is 100% portable.

TheSage's dictionary comprises more than 145,000 references with multiple detailed definitions (over 200,000). It provides comprehensive coverage of English, including encyclopedic information (geographical, historical, political,...), academic knowledge (medicine, biology,... ) and more. There is also a large collection of examples of usage (approx. 35,000).

TheSage's thesaurus is tightly integrated into its dictionary, providing nearly 1,200,000 relationships between definitions (synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms, hyponyms, meronyms, holonyms,...).

Some additional and notable features include: structured lookup display, advanced wildcard search, tabbed interface, anagram search, customizable user-interface, flexible copy-to-clipboard functionality, multi-session history, local installation (no internet connection is required).

Transcripteur

Transcripteur has been designed to simplify the task of creating, maintaining, and managing collections of phonetic transcriptions.

Some notable features include: ability to type phonetic fonts directly following the SAMPA encoding, HTML report generation, clipboard support, font chooser.

Ichos-GSL

Ichos-GSL targets the General Service List, allowing educators and researchers to carry out relatively sophisticated classifications of GSL headwords according to phonetic and orthographic criteria.

Some notable features include: search pattern management, custom phonetic font, symbol table, ability to type phonetic fonts directly following the SAMPA encoding.

TheScribe

TheScribe integrates a WordProcessor and a WordList Manager into a real-time Profiler Engine, providing language educators and researchers with a specialized environment tuned for the careful creation of lexically-sensitive educational and experimental materials.

Some notable features include: real-time vocabulary profiling, partial compatibility with Microsoft Word®, dynamic activation/deactivation of wordlists, creation and modification of lexical sets (including external file wordlist operations), real-time display of type and token counts.

BVProfiler

BVProfiler is a software package intended for language researchers and educators interested in an uncomplicated, fully automatic, text profiler.

Some notable features include: ASCII and UNICODE file support (thus able to profile most languages), custom wordlist support, individual and batch reports, profiling against several wordlists simultaneously.
